Our Story
BMAC STEM was founded in 2023 by Kenji Darby, CISM, PMP, M.Ed — a member of the Bowie Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Recognizing the persistent underrepresentation of Black students in STEM fields and the lack of accessible programming in Prince George's County, Kenji Darby brought together fellow chapter members to build something lasting.
What began as a focused effort to open STEM doors for local youth has grown into a structured program offering workshops, mentorship, cybersecurity training, and college prep. BMAC STEM is a direct expression of Kappa Alpha Psi's founding principle: Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.

BMAC STEM is a community initiative of the Bowie Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. — one of the nation's oldest and most distinguished historically Black fraternities. Founded in 1911 at Indiana University, Kappa Alpha Psi has a 100-year legacy of achievement, service, and leadership in Black communities across America.
Through the Guide Right program — Kappa Alpha Psi's flagship community service initiative — chapters across the country mentor young men and invest in the communities they serve. BMAC STEM is the Bowie Mitchellville Alumni Chapter's expression of that commitment, with a focused mission to close the STEM gap for Black youth in Prince George's County.
Building Infrastructure That Outlasts Any One Leader
The STEM Continuum™ is not a program — it is a permanent educational infrastructure. Kenji Darby designed it with a foundational principle: the work must be able to survive, scale, and serve students long after any individual steps away. That requires more than good intentions. It requires governance, documentation, and a clear doctrine of stewardship.

Documented Curriculum & Methodology
Every program, pathway, and pedagogical approach is formally documented so that future leaders can implement the framework with fidelity — not from memory, but from a living institutional record.
Governance & Succession Planning
Leadership transitions are planned, not improvised. The framework includes clear succession protocols, board accountability structures, and chapter-level governance standards to protect continuity.
Fiscal Safeguards & Transparency
Financial stewardship is a moral obligation. The framework mandates dual-signature controls, annual independent audits, restricted fund designations, and full public transparency on how resources are used.
National Replicability
The STEM Continuum™ is designed to be adopted by Kappa Alpha Psi chapters, school districts, and community organizations nationwide — with the documentation, training, and governance tools to do it right.
The Authorship Doctrine
The STEM Continuum™ was created by Kenji Darby, CISM, PMP, M.Ed. The Authorship Doctrine establishes that intellectual ownership of the framework — its name, methodology, pipeline architecture, and associated materials — belongs to its creator. This is not a bureaucratic formality. It is a protection against the erasure that too often follows Black intellectual contribution in institutional settings.
Attribution Is Non-Negotiable
Any implementation, adaptation, or derivative of The STEM Continuum™ must credit Kenji Darby as its creator. Attribution is the minimum standard of intellectual integrity.
Stewardship Is Not Ownership
Organizations that adopt the framework are stewards, not owners. They are entrusted to implement it faithfully — not to rebrand it, strip its origins, or claim it as their own institutional creation.
Documentation Protects Legacy
The framework is formally documented, timestamped, and archived. This record exists to protect the integrity of the work and ensure that future generations know where it came from and why it was built.

BMAC STEM calls on every chapter, organization, and leader who engages with this framework to embrace stewardship as a sacred responsibility. Kenji Darby, CISM, PMP, M.Ed.
Chairman & Founder, BMAC STEM
Kenji Darby is the founder and chairman of BMAC STEM and the creator of The STEM Continuum™ — a systems-based educational framework designed to guide students from curiosity to careers in STEM. With over two decades of experience in cybersecurity, education, and organizational leadership, Kenji brings a rare combination of technical expertise and community commitment to this work.
Kenji holds a Master of Education degree, the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designation, and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. His career spans federal cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, and workforce development — giving him a firsthand understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a pipeline of diverse STEM talent.
As a member of the Bowie Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Kenji founded BMAC STEM to translate the fraternity's Guide Right mission into a structured, scalable program that creates real pathways for Black youth in Prince George's County.
