Volunteer & Mentorship

Be matched with a high school student for a full academic year. Guide them through college prep, career exploration, and personal development. No formal teaching experience required — just a willingness to show up consistently.

• Monthly check-ins with your mentee (in-person or virtual)
• College application and essay review support
• Career shadowing and networking introductions
• Participation in two BMAC STEM events per year

Lead or co-lead a hands-on STEM workshop for K–12 students. We provide the curriculum, materials, and venue — you bring your expertise and energy. Sessions run on weekends and are designed for groups of 15–25 students.

• Facilitate one or more STEM workshops per semester
• Collaborate with BMAC STEM staff on session planning
• Engage students with hands-on activities and real-world examples
• Provide post-session feedback for curriculum improvement

Share your career journey with high school and college students at one of our career panels. Panelists represent a wide range of STEM fields — from cybersecurity and engineering to data science and healthcare technology.

• Participate in a moderated career panel (60–90 minutes)
• Answer student questions about your field and career path
• Optional: connect with students for follow-up mentorship
• Available for virtual participation if travel is a barrier

Provide weekly virtual tutoring support to middle and high school students in math, science, or computer science. Sessions are flexible and scheduled around your availability.

• Weekly 1-hour virtual tutoring sessions
• Coordinate directly with students and families on scheduling
• Track student progress and share updates with BMAC STEM staff
• Attend one volunteer orientation session before starting

Ambassadors are the face of The STEM Continuum™ in schools, communities, and events. This role is designed for emerging leaders who want to grow their own skills while expanding the program's reach and impact.

• Represent the program at schools, community events, and outreach activities
• Help recruit new students, mentors, and community partners
• Share STEM opportunities and program updates through your networks
• Assist with outreach campaigns, partnerships, and event logistics

Many companies encourage employees to volunteer during work hours. Corporate volunteers bring real-world expertise directly into our programs — as guest speakers, mentors, judges, and coaches. We actively partner with organizations across the defense, technology, and consulting sectors.

• Guest speaker or career panelist for student workshops
• Mentor or sponsor a student through a semester-long program
• Judge at hackathons, science fairs, or capstone presentations
• Resume reviewer or mock interviewer for college-bound students
• Hackathon coach or technical advisor for student teams
